I find it's really hard to get a good tulip shot. I never know if they look better from the side or the top. In any case, these tulips also survived the squirrels in my neighborhood. My MiL and I created this bed when she came to visit last summer. My dahlias are going to look really nice there this summer.

I like tulips but I ADORE dahlias! Tulips remind me a bit of an ice-maiden, whereas dahlias are a flowsy old madam!
Trust me, they look better from the side! :) Especially in close-ups.
And being single, your "MiL' took me a moment or two.
They are looking good, Halcyon. Down here, the tulips are past. It is the awkward time when the blooms are gone, but the foliage has to die off before the bulbs can be removed.

@Jack - on the advice of my MiL, I'm waiting for the tulips to finish their blooms before I replace them with the dahlias.
They are beautiful. I never know how to photograph flowers either.
