Watchful bench

Here's another golf course bench for you, courtesy of Black Bear Ridge. I liked this one especially because of the owl statue watching over it in the background. This course was very challenging but in fantastic shape. Everything was so green - just like in this picture.

Stylish bench

This original bench was also at the shoe store with the red shoes. I love the simplicity of it and also how the store uses that fantastic wood sculpture to display their wares. I found this wonderful shop when browsing through the Distillery District recently with visitors. Perhaps I'll have to go back for a closer look and maybe a purchase!

Empty benches

I'm not sure why these benches were unoccupied. They look pretty inviting to me! These were found in the Distillery District of downtown Toronto.

Floral bench

Lakeridge Links has great landscaping. Who wouldn't want to sit on that bench surrounded by flowers? The only thing that mars the landscape is the big bin. But I guess it has to go somewhere!

Parkette bench

Here's a last look at the Portuguese Parkette. I love the way the designers have incorporated this stone bench into the landscaping. 

The parkette also included a nice little fountain to honor the pioneers. This little parkette really squeezes a lot in! I hope you have enjoyed the tour.

Bright benches

Sorry I've been a bit out of commission lately, but the (fairly) new job is still keeping me quite busy. Since I haven't had much time to shoot anything new, here's a look at some benches outside a fast food joint in Niagara Falls. I love the bright red of those benches. But the best part of this photo is the fake owl on the upper left corner to keep the pigeons at bay. For more red, visit Ruby Tuesday.

Evening on the dock

Another look at the beautiful scenery of the Kwartha Lakes. Too bad I didn't have a chance to get back there this winter. Since we had more snow this year, I bet it was even better!

Bench of tribute

If you're brave enough to sit here in this chilly weather, you can honor some of the fallen heroes of Niagara Falls. I like the simplicity of this war memorial. For a look at other skies from around the world, take a look at Skywatch.

Fenced out

A slew of plain, but practical benches are fenced out of an area just in front of the West Toronto Baptist Church. I wonder if the church made a little part of their lawn available on purpose in order to share a bit of space with the community? I like to imagine parishioners sitting out in the sun before or after a service spending some time getting to know one another or catching up on the week's events.

Clean bench

We're back to the Junction! Finding a bench with a broom leaning against it in front of a Cleaners shop made me smile. I hope it gives you a smile too on this Monday morning!

Barren benches

After reading about the Wychwood Barns on Red Pat's blog, I finally made it over there this past weekend. There wasn't much going on, but it was a neat place to walk around. I bet these benches and trees look a lot different in the spring and summer. Maybe I'll have to come back and see!

Old time travel

I found this mural over the weekend in the part of town known as the Junction. It seems it was formerly the hub for train travel in the city, there's lots of locomotive themed signage and such. Unfortunately, this bench made it difficult to get a full view of this mural, but you get the idea. Hope your week is off to a good start, it's going to be a busy one for me. Russell's bench

It's back to the archives again. I really need to get out and do some more shooting, but my new job is keeping me super busy. In any case, hope you enjoy this shady spot in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Russell's bench looks like a pretty inviting place to sit and people watch for awhile. I might have to try it the next time I'm there!

Camoflage bench

This bench really blends in well with its surroundings! Perhaps only people wearing green sweaters are allowed to sit there? I found this one in the cute town of Niagara on the Lake. Hope your weekend is going well, why do they have to seem so short compared to the work week though?

Last round

I had to get in one last shot of the golf course where I played my last round of the Canadian season. The fall colors were fantastic back in late October. The temps were pretty warm for that time of year, some brave fellows were even out in shorts - not me though!

Shady spot

One of the nice things about Pardes Shalom is that there were plenty of benches for people to sit and remember their loved ones. This one had just the right amount of shade and sun for an autumn day. Don't forget to remember those who have fallen for our freedom on this Remembrance Day. And you can see more shadows at Shadow Shot Sunday.

You can lead an elephant to water...

But if the fountain is turned off for the winter, you can't make it drink! 

Hope you're having a great weekend. We finally got a slight relief from the rain, but I still haven't seen the sunny skies we were promised. At least it's been dry enough to clean up the rest of the leaves in the yard; not exactly what I call a fun weekend, but it has to be done!

Fall color

Here's another look at the fall color we're experiencing here in Ontario. You can't beat a splash of red in my books! Hope your weekend is off to a good start, it's going to be a rainy one up here.

Glenn's bench

Glenn Gould is one of Canada's most beloved treasures. He was a piano virtuoso and you can hardly step foot in downtown Toronto without finding something that bears his name. In fact, this bench is just outside the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) building which is home to the Glenn Gould Studio. 

As is often the case with musical geniuses, Glenn had many eccentricities. People now suggest that he may have suffered from some form of autism. Whatever it was, it certainly made him special and he won't soon be forgotten by his Canadian fans.

Another memorial

Sarnia seems to be full of memorials! This bench was donated by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and honours all victims of drunk drivers. I am beginning to wonder about the mortality rate in this town!

PS: I'm going to be out of town for a few days. One A Day will be on autopilot until my return, although I will be checking in now and then! And I hope to have some new shots when I get back.
