Somewhere in Ontario

I love the green summers you find here in Ontario. Everything just came together for this shot, the field, the barn and the sky! I don't know about you, but I'm glad Friday is here. View from the west

I got this nice skyline shot from the west side of the city when I was exploring there recently. This was actually taken from the pedestrian bridge I showed you earlier this week. For more skies, take a look at Skywatch.

I'm glad the weekend is finally here - and it's a long one for us! We've got visitors in town, so that should give me plenty of photo ops and a chance to use my new camera - the Nikon D7000. It's a long and sad story, but my old D3000 stopped working at a most inopportune time (right when I arrived in PEI for the second leg of my Farewell Canada Tour!). After returning from that trip, I looked at all my options and decided to upgrade to the D7000 - I'm hoping it will be worth it.

Blue skies over the temple

A look at the outside of the Kiever Shul, luckily it was a bright sunny day! This synagogue was opened in 1914 by Ukranian Jews. It has gone through some ups and downs in the days since, but the congregation seems to be growing these days even though they don't have a permanent Rabbi.

Bench of tribute

This is the piece de resistance of my recent visit to Niagara Falls. The wintery mists made conditions perfect for a beautiful rainbow which covered us all like a giant colorful umbrella!

Silhouettes

I saw this tree and just loved the shape of it, a wonderful symmetry! And it looks especially nice silhouetted against the pinkish-blue sky of early evening. The weekend is finally here and since I've gotten almost all of my shopping done, I won't be spending it at the mall. Hope you've got some good plans to relax and have fun too. The blue hour

It always pays to look up! Otherwise I might have missed these wonderful lampposts and the detail on that building. Last round

I had to get in one last shot of the golf course where I played my last round of the Canadian season. The fall colors were fantastic back in late October. The temps were pretty warm for that time of year, some brave fellows were even out in shorts - not me though!

Autumnal color

Unfortunately Sandy's winds and rain knocked shortened our fall season a bit. I'm glad I got a few shots of the changing trees before they turned bare. Second choice

I almost chose this shot for yesterday's water's edge theme - I hope you'll still enjoy it! We haven't seen the sun in Toronto for almost a week now, let alone rainbows. Looking up

Fall is definitely here in all it's glory. While I do love the changing colors of the trees, I am not so fond of the dropping temperatures. We're lucky that it's been pretty mild so far in Toronto. Maybe that's a sign that we're in for another mild winter? I certainly hope so!

Giant spider in black and white

American artist Michael Christian was commissioned for some interesting works in the Distillery District in downtown Toronto back in 2009. This giant spider is one that remains. I think it looks even better in black and white. For more skies, take a look at Skywatch.

Souls Memorial

The Souls Memorial is a tribute to the co-operation between Canada and the First Nations people. You'll find it under the Blue Waters Bridge in Sarnia, Ontario. It's quite a moving work and it looks great against a blue sky. For more skies from around the world, visit Skywatch.

The Tritons

I pass this sculpture every time I go to Yorkdale Mall and I always mean to get a photo of it. So the last time I was there, I actually did! The dramatic sky makes an interesting background for these figures who appear to be floating. Hope you have big plans for the weekend. Happy Friday!

The skywheel

I've never actually been on the Skywheel, but it looks like a fun way to see Niagara Falls. Maybe the next time we have visitors, we'll insist on taking this ride.
