401 bridge

A look at the 401 bridge from the Don Valley golf course. This is where I played the final round of my golf league. It's pretty funny to play golf right in the middle of the city.  You really feel like you're out in nature! For more bridges, visit Sunday Bridges.

Reflecting

Anyone who knows me will know where this shot was taken... on the golf course! I can't resist a good reflection, but my playing season is over as my clubs have already been shipped to Berlin. For more reflections, take a look at Weekend Reflections.

Somewhere in Ontario

I love the green summers you find here in Ontario. Everything just came together for this shot, the field, the barn and the sky! I don't know about you, but I'm glad Friday is here. My golf league has its final round this Saturday and then a BBQ party. Lots of fun! for more skies, take a look at Skywatch.

Watchful bench

Here's another golf course bench for you, courtesy of Black Bear Ridge. I liked this one especially because of the owl statue watching over it in the background. This course was very challenging but in fantastic shape. Everything was so green - just like in this picture.

September theme day: Pink

 

Here is my take on "pink" for the September theme day. These lovely lilies came straight from my garden. I got quite a few blooms on them this year. Too bad I won't be here next year to see how they turn out! For more pink from around the world, click here.

Fences and trees

Eagle in silhouette

This year I finally got a round in at Eagle's Nest. This was actually one of the first courses I played this season, but I never got around to posting this shot. The course was really beautiful and very challenging, I'd love to go back. Too many golf courses for so little time!

From my garden...

I never had very good luck with zinnias, but this year I've hit the jackpot! A plethora of "volunteer" flowers have bloomed in my beds. I probably have the birds to thank for that.

Gardens of Casa Loma

The fantastic gardens at Casa Loma could really have a whole week dedicated to them alone! I still haven't visited the inside of Casa Loma, but if it's anything like outside it must be worth a look. Until I get there, enjoy these beauties from their garden.

Portugese parkette

This little "parkette" found off College Street in Toronto is dedicated to the Portugese Pioneers who helped build Canada. It was very nicely manicured with lots of colorful plants and flowers. There was even a (very small) wall of fame! I'll show you more another time, for now you can see more signs at Signs, Signs.

Pink peony

I found this beauty in the garden of one of the many golf courses I've visited this year. This magnificent blossom is a double bloom peony, if I'm not mistaken. I love that shade of pink and the fresh rain drops don't hurt either. If you enjoy flowers, check back tomorrow. I'm doing a floral series this week.

Always take the time...

To stop and smell the roses!

I don't think I've ever regretting taking a few moments to smell (and photograph) a beautiful rose. Hope your weekend has been a good one. It finally cooled down a bit here in Toronto and I got a few rounds of relaxing golf in. A very nice way to spend the weekend. Now if there just wasn't that pesky work to get in the way of the next one!

Natural lines

A shot of the leaves shooting out on the mulberry tree in my yard. We had an exceptionally short spring this year, but my mulberries are finally fully leafed out. I wonder if the hard winter will mean more berries? 

Do you like it better in color or black and white? I can't decide!

On the horizon

I thought it was time to start the voyage into the summer, but we've got snow in the forecast for today! What's happening Canada? Please someone, send some warm weather our way!

Evening on the dock

Another look at the beautiful scenery of the Kwartha Lakes. Too bad I didn't have a chance to get back there this winter. Since we had more snow this year, I bet it was even better!

Fishing huts

Ice fishing and ATVing are big winter passtimes up here in the cold north. You actually need a fishing license for ice fishing, even though most people throw their catches back. So instead of fishing myself, I watched others fish. It's quite the scientific pursuit and many of those huts are really decked out inside. These shots were taken last February in the Kawartha Lakes, but since we're getting more snow - it might as well be now! Hope your week is off to a less snowy start.

Chilly canoes

A lot of the snow melted this weekend, so spring might actually be around the corner, even in Canada! Maybe it's a good time to start digging out the canoes and other spring/summer items. I actually caught this scene last year near the Kawartha Lakes. Hope your Monday is off to a good start, my company moved office locations so it should be an interesting first day in our new building for me. Walls of snow
