Reflective roof

This is a look into the Brookfield Place building from the outside. This building is not far from Union Station and it has this really spectacular glass atrium. I'm sure you'll see more views of this place on my blog in the future.

Smokin'

Have you ever heard of a RibFest? I hadn't before I attended this one in Cobourg. I don't eat ribs, but I was fascinated watching these guys work. Each one had their own technique but basically it all boils down to a simple system: slather with sauce, grill, turn, slather, repeat. 

There are several stands serving ribs, I think it would be hard to choose which one to sample, but I guess those who attend the RibFest regularly have their favorites. Or you could just choose the stand that has the most trophies. Yes, they give trophies at the RibFest. I am still amazed there is a whole festival dedicated to pork products. An interesting concept.

Dreamy place

I found this cute cafe in Port Hope. I love the way it looks with those lovely tables and flowers. I also think the name is perfect! Unfortunately, I didn't see the lady inside giving me the evil eye until later. I guess she didn't like being part of my photo...

Random boat

I found this row boat recently on a golf course. Not what you typically expect to find, perhaps they use it to fish balls out of the water feature? A conundrum for the ages...

Floral facade

Another one of the beautiful flower-covered restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Every building you see seems to be prettier than the others, but I really think this was the piece de resistance. Fall has definitely descended on Toronto, so it's nice to take a look back to this summer.

Monochrome scene

A look out on Lake Ontario from Niagara-on-the-Lake. You can see all the way to the US from here, that's Fort Niagara you see on the other side. They were firing the canons the day I visited, you could hear them and see the smoke from our vantage point.

Building and sky

Another look at one of the lovely old buildings in Niagara-on-the-Lake. And it's backed by a pastel blue sky, a perfect day for strolling and shooting.

Shaw

I don't know what connection George Bernard Shaw has with Niagara-on-the-Lake, but there was a statue of him gracing the main street. I think he's looking pretty good!

Update courtesy of VP: The Shaw Festival, an annual theater festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada began as an eight week run of Don Juan in Hell (as the long third act dream sequence of Man And Superman is called when staged alone) and Candida in 1962, and has grown into an annual festival with over 800 performances a year, dedicated to producing the works of Shaw and his contemporaries. 

Lush bench

If you don't like the hustle and bustle in Niagara Falls the city, you can head just down the road to Niagara-on-the-Lake. It's filled with cute shops, quaint cafes and the streets are lined with flowers. When you've had your fill, visit some of the nearby wineries.

The Falls

I know you've been waiting for it, so here they are, the famous Niagara Falls. This is a look at the Horseshoe Falls actually, they're on the Canadian side. I'm a little disappointed with my shots from the falls. Unfortunately, it was a gray day so there's not much contrast between the water and the sky. I'm sure I'll get back here though, hopefully on a blue sky day!

Trapped

I love Niagara Falls, but the city that has built up around it is a tourist trap in every sense of the term. I thought this scene made for a nice photo, although I wonder how many people come to the falls to bowl.

Forlorn flower

It's a little hard to see, but I caught a hummingbird moth drinking from this faded coneflower. It's hard to catch these guys in motion, but it was pretty amazing to see.

This mandolin player was part of the band playing at the Greek Festival back in June. I had sort of forgotten about these shots, hope you enjoy!

Reflective doorway
