Party time!

A new Loblaws supermarket recently opened in downtown Toronto. Normally a grocery store opening wouldn't garner much news coverage but this one is special. It's located inside the Maple Leaf Gardens building, the former home of Toronto's hockey team, the Maple Leafs.

I toured the building last Thursday. It was pretty crowded and there were people taking pictures all over the place. I'll show you some of the highlights over the next few weeks. Enjoy!

That's a place I also want to visit... with my camera of course. Perhaps you should explain to non Canadians that President Choice products has nothing to to do with Barack Obama. PS: I guess you are used to bagged milk by now:-)

I'm so glad I don't have a tub of that ice ream here right now Halcyon, resistance is low, I wouldn't be able to resist! Looking forward to seeing more.

The former home of the Leafs? I thought Maple Leaf Gardens was a hockey shrine. I can still hear the Bruins announcers from decades past calling the games between the Bs and the Leafs. (I hope they had Rum Raisin, my favorite ice cream.)

Well, «Louis» finds this interesting, even if others might not. He worked in the supermarket business for more than 30 years most of it with Safeway. His time at Safeway included 15 years in the corporate office. Safeway entered the Toronto market in 1969. Safeway is very successful in western Canada, but couldn't make a go of it in Toronto.

@Andy - I think President's Choice used to be a Wal-Mart brand in the US. But I bet Obama would like it!

@Jack - the Leafs moved to the Air Canada Center (just next to Union Station) in the early 2000s. It's a bigger and newer stadium that they share with the Raptors, our NBA team. There's a lot of controversy about a grocery store moving into the former home of the sacred Leafs. And I don't think it will be over for awhile. :S

Ok, BIG debate last night at our house. If you HAD to give up bread or ice cream FOREVER. What would you choose? Elenka and I both passed up the 'cream' for BREAD! You?

Nice.
My photos didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped - so I'll have to go back!
I did post some today, too, as well as on my other blog [VioletySky]

Sprinkle Party Cake and Red Velvet ice creams, I think these two flavors would go well together.

That looks like a flavor to be tasted.

@Birdman - no hesitation here. The cream would have to go. I couldn't live without bread.

@VioletSky - most of mine didn't turn out so great either. But there are a few nice ones. :)

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
