From the 20th

We have some friends who just moved into a lovely downtown apartment on the waterfront. I certainly wouldn't mind waking up to this view every day!

PS: There's more from Sicily on my travel blog today. And the internet/cable guy is coming next Tuesday. I am going to call their hotline and see if someone cancels so they can install earlier. But at least the long wait is over.

Oh Canada

The Canadian fans who were in attendance at last weekend's game were quite expressive. Due to family ties, I had to root for Germany. However, the Canadian ladies did play a good game and it was an exciting match to watch.

PS: Postal service is supposed to resume today. Hopefully I'll have my own internet connection by the end of the week! There are also more photos from my Odyssey available on my other blog.

Deutschland für weltmeister

The Women's Soccer World Cup is in full swing! This weekend Germany played Canada. There were a surprising number of German fans at this showing in Dundas Square downtown. The German ladies are off to a good start with a 2-1 win. Let's see how the US does though. 

PS: My travel blog is up and running again. I'm going to be featuring some photos from my 'Odyssey' in May. It included a visit to my old home in Jackson, a stop at my MiL's in Berlin, a Mediterranean cruise and a drive from Jackson up to Toronto with a stopover in Kalamazoo, MI. Enjoy!

Monochrome details

More details from Union Station. This frieze is actually in copper, so the original color is greenish. But I think it looks even better in black and white.

A memorial seen at the York cemetery in the military section. A sweet reminder of the lives that were lost in war.

Just in case you get lost, Union Station includes some helpful signs. It really can get confusing in there!

Birdie on the 18th

I did finally get to play some golf this weekend. My husband and I headed over to the Lionhead Golf Club in Brampton. We played the Legends course, which is rated as the "most difficult course in North America". We had a great time and met up with this fellow on the last hole. Think he was looking for a morsel for the chick. Overall, it was a wonderful day on the golf.

In other news, the postal workers are still on strike. Which means still hi-jacking internet from the neighbors.

Through the tulips

This photo was actually taken back in May before I left on my Odyssey. I really wanted to share it though. That red is too gorgeous not to! 

Hope everyone has a happy weekend. Mine will include more cleaning and organizing. And hopefully a little golf.

Grand entrance

This is the "front door" to Union Station. It's quite a magnificent building which houses a subway stop, numerous streetcar stops and all of the GO commuter trains make their final stop here as well. It's certainly a busy place during rush hour.

I'm hoping to have my own internet connection next week. They say the postal strikes will come to an end this Friday. It will certainly be good to blog again and will also be useful in my job search!

Train station

Just a quick post to say I haven't abandoned this blog. Due to the postal strike in Canada, I have not yet received my equipment to set up our home Internet connection. Needless to say, it's not easy to blog and be active on the net when you have to hijack the neighbor's connection and aforementioned hijacking can only take place at a very specific location near the kitchen window. But I hope to be back in business soon!

June theme day: Under construction

A new life is under construction within the walls of this house. Things are finally beginning to take shape for my husband and I in Toronto. Come next Monday when our belongings arrive, we'll be able to start making this house into a home. I'll be happy to finally be able to put down some roots and get settled.

I'm sorry to have been absent for so long, but being between Toronto, Germany and Jackson isn't easy and I still don't have a reliable internet connection. But like I said, it's coming!
