Hart House pool

My main reason for taking the Hart House tour was to see the art deco pool. However, I have to admit that I was severely disappointed. I have been to a few art deco pools in Europe and they were much more impressive (tilework, architectural details, etc), but I suppose I shouldn't compare the old world to the new! The skylights do make this a nice place for a swim, if you have the right membership card.

It's also unfortunate that the gallery area seems to double as a storage space so I couldn't get a shot without some lousy junk in it. But I guess that's how it goes - there are always some disappointments in life.

Action!

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you've got an action-packed weekend planned. We had a short warm spell in Toronto this past week, but it's turned cold again. Maybe an indoor driving range is in order? Have fun!

Halftime show

I went to a Raptors basketball game this past weekend. It was a great game with lots of action which the Raptors won by a slim margin in the last minutes! But I always love seeing the dancers work it during the halftime and commercial breaks and let me tell you, those Raptor girls can move! For more red, take a look at Ruby Tuesday.

Stadium in monochrome

The geometrical lines of the stadium seating just cried out to me for black and white. Hope you have some big plans for the weekend. I might play a little golf if the weather isn't too bad. Otherwise I might check out a movie or some theater. Happy Friday!

Curling signs

I had my second curling lesson a few weeks ago. I was even better this time around and threw the stones that cinched the bonspiel for us! If you'd like to see more signs, visit Signs, Signs.

Double doorway

Since coming to Canada a year ago, I've dreamed about trying my hand at a real Canadian passtime - curling! It was a lot of fun, but much more difficult than it appears on TV. My husband and I have another lesson scheduled for the end of April. I can't wait!

Happy Family Day!

I saw plenty of families skiing and having fun at the Earl Bales Park ski run recently. There's only one hill here and it's pretty gentle, so it's a good place for the youngsters to learn.

Happy Family Day to all my Canadian friends! And to the rest, happy Monday!

On the ice

The skating season has officially begun! Ice rinks around the city opened up this weekend. I'm going to have to buy a pair of skates and get out there. Skating is one of the few winter activities that I actually enjoy.

Oh Canada

The Canadian fans who were in attendance at last weekend's game were quite expressive. Due to family ties, I had to root for Germany. However, the Canadian ladies did play a good game and it was an exciting match to watch.

PS: Postal service is supposed to resume today. Hopefully I'll have my own internet connection by the end of the week! There are also more photos from my Odyssey available on my other blog.

Deutschland für weltmeister

The Women's Soccer World Cup is in full swing! This weekend Germany played Canada. There were a surprising number of German fans at this showing in Dundas Square downtown. The German ladies are off to a good start with a 2-1 win. Let's see how the US does though.

PS: My travel blog is up and running again. I'm going to be featuring some photos from my 'Odyssey' in May. It included a visit to my old home in Jackson, a stop at my MiL's in Berlin, a Mediterranean cruise and a drive from Jackson up to Toronto with a stopover in Kalamazoo, MI. Enjoy!
