Just posing

These camels were also vying for attention and they got plenty of it! They also seemed pretty interested in posing for my camera. Lucky for me, they were good subjects.

The clock is ticking down on my remaining time here in Toronto. I'm glad Friday is here, but this weekend is going to be a busy one for me. There's no shortage of things to get done before an international move.

It's me!

This sheep was not shy about begging for some attention! Hope you're enjoying this trip around the farmyard.

Bacon?

These little piggies were also getting lots of attention at the petting zoo. Unfortunately, all I could get was a rump view! But they're cute from any angle.

Petting zoo!

Take a look at this cute little guy! He's a baby bison and I got his portrait at the Midnight Madness festival I recently attended in Caledon. I'm not sure he was so happy being cooped up in that small pen, but he did seem to like the attention he got, especially from the kids!

PS: I've still got loads of pictures from Montréal up on my travel blog.

The Mirvish saga continues...

Since we're on a Mirvish roll of sorts, let's just keep going with it! This is Honest Ed a Toronto police horse named after the late and great Ed Mirvish who will be marching in Obama's inauguration parade tomorrow in Washington DC. It seems lately that good old Ed is lurking around every corner, maybe he doesn't really need that fancy headstone after all!

Sunbathing swans

A look back at summer on the Toronto islands. Those swans and ducks seem to be enjoying the wonderful weather. I must admit, I wouldn't mind flying south for the winter! For more reflections, take a look at Weekend Reflections.

The other side

It seems the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" also rings true for our porcine friends!

Hee haw!

I was back at the Riverdale Farm recently and caught this beautiful donkey with his lovely winter fur. I've shown some of the other farmyard friends before on this blog. But I can assure you, the piggies look different with their winter coats on, so it was worth another visit in the winter.

Making tracks

I guess there's a reason why we use the term bird-brain. It looks like these pigeons were turning round and round in circles! Makes for a nice monochrome shot however, and if you'd like to see more take a look at the Weekend in Black and White.

February theme day: Animals

I really hesitated between two shots for today's theme day, but I decided to use this one. The runner-up is a bit abstract, perhaps I'll show it to you later in the week.  Almost anyone that knows me realizes that squirrels are the bane of my gardening existence. But this little guy was just so cute as he posed for me on the University of Toronto campus, that I couldn't help snapping a shot. They're always cute, until they're digging up your garden and eating your tulip bulbs!

Animals were the choice for this month's CDP theme day. If you'd like to see more, click here. And I've got a bonus pretty kitty for you on my travel blog!

Visitor

The neighbor's mietz often comes by to pay me a visit. I can hardly resist when he looks at me through the door like that. When the weather is nicer, I often sit on the porch and give him a nice rub, he's a pretty friendly fellow. I sometimes wonder if his owners feed him enough or if he just likes to get some extra treats by making the rounds of the cat lovers on the block.

You can see more furry friends at Camera Critters.

Look at me

I believe this peacock was on the hunt for a stray french fry or potato chip. Lots of people were feeding the animals around the food court, despite the signs asking people to refrain from such behavior. Sadly, no amount of fries got him to open his wings in a colorful display.

Unfortunately, I am having technical difficulties again. However this time it's my ISP which is to blame. I hope to have the internets back up and running soon (right now I'm at the public library). I apologize in advance for my sparse commenting as of late. The lack of internets at home is also hindering my job search.

Hi there

A big friendly hello from your local moose. His eyes look so gentle. Who couldn't love this animal which has become so much a symbol of Canada?

Little one

For the record, I don't like squirrels. They eat your tulip bulbs and your bird seed and just generally mess up your yard. But I have to admit this little one is pretty cute.

Hope you are still enjoying ODT while I'm on break in Berlin. I've also got some nice shots on my travel blog. Stop by and take a look.

Another barnyard friend

Here is my last friend from the Riverdale Farm. She looks a little wistful to me. Perhaps she's mulling over which piece of hay to munch on next.

Chickie

I think Chickie was giving me the evil eye. She didn't want me stealing her man, although from the looks of things, she has to share him with quite a few other hens. I met Chickie at the Riverdale Farm, it's the same place I caught my porcine friends smooching

Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend. It's NOT snowing in Toronto, so we are headed to the golf course.

How about a kiss

I found these two friends at the Riverdale Farm. It's a fun place to spend an afternoon and if you go on Tuesdays, there's a lovely open-air market with organic produce. Oink, oink!

Party crasher

I put out my bird cam a few weeks ago in my new yard. So far, all I've gotten are pictures of nothing and this squirrel. You just can't get away from them, in Jackson or in Toronto!
