Union station

I have shown you a few other views of Union Station here and there, but here's a look at the main hall when you come in through the grand entrance. It's a lovely old building with lots of photographic possibilities. I think it lends itself especially well to black and white shots.

PS: I have changed the look on my Travel Blog, stop by and let me know what you think.

What a grandiose place! Great as a monochrome! I've heard that they are renovating the St. Paul Union Station also - can't wait to see it!

This is wonderful! I love these old train stations. I lived in LA in the late 40's and I still remember Union Station there.

you are right, also because of that it matches more with the old age of the station

I agree that black and white is fabulous for this photo.

Thank you for your many recent kind comments on St. Louis Daily Photo. I'm embarrassed that I haven't gotten around to returning the favor. My life is pretty crowded. However, I finally remembered to put you on my favorites page so I will see your blog every day.

This is an awfully nice photograph with a real sense of scale and grandeur. Although I'm sure the station is much larger, the image reminds me of the reading room at the main branch of the Boston Public Library.

It looks like a smaller version of Grand Central Terminal. On my screen, it is coming out pretty dark. Would the colored version have more light?

@Bob - no worries. I understand how life gets in the way of things sometimes. Thanks for stopping by!

@Jack - I did add some contrast when I switched this over to B&W. When I was working, the photos would always look different on my computer screen at work. So it may be that our computers have a different way of seeing things. :)

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
