Aptly named

This is a typical strip mall that you'll find around Toronto. Although I don't find these shopping centres very attractive, I had to get a picture of this one because the name "Pants Shortening" really tickled my funnybone. I think it's great that this store has used a name that so aptly describes their services. Perhaps other businesses should take note! For more signs, visit Signs, Signs.

Everything in that little mall seems to be well labeled. Those malls are so ugly.

I too don't care for the looks of strip malls, but they do provide convenience for their customers. "Alterations Done Here" is what is often on signs around here, especially dry cleaners who often have someone that does what the sign says here.

I agree they are pretty ugly, but at least you don't have to drive from one store to the next like in those big box malls.

That's exactly the store I need. It's hard to find anyone who does alterations anymore. Sure is an ugly strip mall though. :)

Just about every store here has a no-nonsense name. Nothing too cutesy for this strip mall!

a common sight here too. they're not pretty at all.

I confess that I have never seen this strip mall.:) But "Pants Shortening" is certainly "short" and to the point. :)

Nice shot for the theme.

Thanks for the chuckle! It may be ugly, but there are some interesting storefronts here, and I'm trying to figure out where the stairs to the second floor are. Something about it strikes my imagination. I think it might make a good setting for a story.

Definitely a no nonsense shopping area! The closest we have to your strip malls are the village shopping centres!

Although it's ugly, it looks like one stop shopping! In the Southwest (US), the malls are constructed to fit in with the surroundings with similar colors. You wouldn't find a mall like this there. At least not in the newer areas.

The sign probably works, because you'd remember seeing it if you needed alteration...all ugly strip malls look alike, so they have to do something to stand out. The only reason I'd ever go to a strip mall if they offer a service you can't find anywhere else. There's one in Eugene Oregon where we get knives sharpened, for example, or keys made. Those services are hard to find.

These strip malls and the signs in Toronto are terrible.

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
