In memory

Gardiner and Ryerson are big names in Toronto, but I can't find any information to see if this grave in the Mount Pleasant cemetery holds any of the actual bigwigs. The large size of the stone and the care taken with the tulips would tend to make me think they are attached to one of the important families. In any case, I find this memorial stone and the flowers simply lovely.

If you'd like to see more cemeteries, visit Tapophile Tragics. And you can see more red at Ruby Tuesday.

It must be important, with it's own little garden plot. I see the stones in the background don't have that. Of course the family may not be important, just monied.

An impressive monument to a family suggesting a gathering place! It seems not necessarily connected to particular graves but a place of remembrance! An interesting find!

Such a lovingly attended grave. The flowers are beautiful - wonder if they have flowers that bloom in other seasons too?

I fear becoming a bit of a know it all....
but this Gardiner is, I believe, the one that the Gardiner Museum is named for. the expressway was named for Fred Gardiner, though they might be related.

A simple but rather imposing looking gravestone.

It is a prominent headstone and the evergreen and tulips are a nice rememberance.

So it seems an important family after all Halcyon, love it when commentors fill in the gaps. It certainly is very well maintained.

@Violet - thanks for your native "Torontonian" words. I always find your input interesting and you never sounds like a know-it-all! :)

I want to have a little garden full of pretty flowers in front of my stone. There is something promising about seeing something living in a cemetery.

Quite gorgeous.

And whether Sanna is a KIA or not, her extra knowledge is always welcome.

In Rookwood Necropolis the other day, I found two signs a few times scattered about. The signs were metal and quite old. One said 'Annual Care' the other said 'Perpetual Care'. This could explain why some grave areas are more kempt than others.

I will try to remember to show the signs next week.

It i a beautiful memorial. Those tulips really make a statement about the thoughts that are still with the grave occupants.

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
