Old York Lane

I found this mural on Old York Lane in the heart of Yorkville. It's a little section of Toronto that hosts high-end fashion boutiques and the like, but it's a nice place for window shopping (for me at least!). I tried to find some more information about this work online, but my searches have not been fruitful. If anyone knows anything more about it, or the artist, please let me know. I think it adds a nice touch to this lovely little lane.

James Hill must have expended quite the effort on this - it's big!

It certainly does add a nice touch to an otherwise kind of boring wall. I'm all for murals if they add rather than despoil a wall. Nice find halcyon.

@Violet Sky - thanks for the link!

Interesting idea...a mural on a building of a building. Looking at the real tree and the tree on the mural, it looks like the mural is mirroring it. Cool!

This doesn't look anything like the Yorkville I remember! It was all modern... This is charming.

I learned a lot from the link Violet provided. The creation of a building on a building is like echoing reflections. The Violin Lessons window shade and the embracing couple in another window add a sense of liveliness and immediacy to the scene. What a fun, beckoning entrance to this lane. Makes me expand my thinking about the function of murals. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural, Halcyon.

It is amazing what can be done. We only have one mural near where we live and it changes every four or five years.

Good one! I hope it survives the continuing gentrification of this once quirky area.

That's a very "painterly" mural, Halcyon. It certainly dresses up that wall.

It's quite lovely -- colorful, sure would add to the joys of (what would be for me too) window shopping!

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
