New prices

Prices on the TTC have gone up. It used to be that you could get four tokens for $10 or eight for $20. Now you get three for $7.80 or seven for $18.20. What I don't understand is why they don't just say that on the machine - $20 + $1.80 change just seems a bit confusing to me. Ah well, just another one of the mysteries of how this city is run.

To see more signs, which may or may not be confusing(!), check out Signs, Signs.

c'est vrai que leur manière de présenter est spéciale et pas très compréhensible

All cities are run that way ... :D

Funny. But I'm with you. Bureaucrats in any organization seem to function in some other world where circles are squares and 2 plus 2 equal 4 1/2!

I would likely miss that small print and think that 3 tokens cost more if you bought them in bulk than if you bought them individually. and more to the point - what good is 3??

@Lesley - I didn't even think of that, but you're so right! Who wants seven tokens either?

Je ne comprends rien et ne sais pas ce que sont des TTC qui pour moi signifie toutes taxes comprises.

@Ciel - TTC = Toronto Transit Commission

As a former employee I know it's difficult to get them to make things simple and easy. When I started working there tickets were 7 for one dollar or two for thirty-five cents. Then again coffee was only 10 cents a cup. Things have changed.

A machine that gives change - great idea!
But I am confused already - can you use coins to get the 3 or 7 tokens if you have exact change?
I think I will stick to going to the man in the box at the turnstile.

Anything that makes it harder to remember sounds about right :-( Too bad.

Good example: the signs on machines are always strange and puzzling!

Hehehe! Things don't appear to be getting any simpler these days in Toronto! :)

That's got my eyes crossing -- I can see me if I were on that platform -- I'd have to depend on the kindness of strangers ;>)

I think I could follow these directions. Sometimes they are really confusing, but this one looks pretty cut and dry. Love all the red. genie

Yikes! That doesn't look user friendly at all.

As painful as this is, why not round it up to the next whole dollar?

I know. It's so hard to figure out especially in Paris when the euro/dollar thing changes so often!

Personally, I'd rather be putting my money in a SLOT machine, but.....

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
