It's back to Brookfield Place! Although this may look like any building you'd see out on the street, this is only a facade that was moved into the centre when it was. This is maybe one of the few cases where the city has actually done a good job preserving its history. This particular building was once the Midland Commercial Bank, and now it provides a nice contrast to the new glass and steel portion of Brookfield Place. For more signs, take a look at Signs, Signs.

je trouve la porte magnifique et tres impressionnante . c'est bien de garder son histoire et de le reutiliser
Ca fait extrêmement British. Mais bon, Dominion...
Toronto is certainly a gorgeous city. I enjoy seeing it through your lens.
Downtown most cities look the same with their tall glass buildings. In suburbs they all have the same big box stores. Then every once in awhile your find a gem like this,
You are absolutely right. But I love this building for itself. It reminds me of the wonderful buildings of my youth - buildings built to last, sturdy and of stone, smelling of tobacco and cleaning solutions, slippery floors when wet...
Ah, such nostalgia.
that door looks pretty secure!
I'm all for this kind of thing. Gladly we see more amd more of it.
It gives the concourse a sense of 'street'.
Nice looking building.
It is a building well worth preserving.
it's a nice looking building
Elegant, sober and appropriate.
I love this building and have taken many photos of it!
I'm just getting back into posting here. Life has been really hectic!!

Calling by from the signs meme as another participant, interesting story behind this particular sign.

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
