Big bloom

A last look at what came up in my garden this year. I just couldn't resist showing a shot of this beautiful dahlia. I really hope I can get them to come back next year. I love the deep red shade of this variety.

To see more red shots from around the world, visit Ruby Tuesday. I'll be back from Berlin tomorrow!

Gorgeous colour! We don't usually see this deep colour here.

Great shot. You really hit the range of color well here. It's hard to get the detail in between the dark reds and the blacks in that flower head. Great image!

This is simply yummy! Super depth-of-field and the colors, so deep and rich, are elegant in a medieval kind of way!

Dark shade of red, rare and elegant.

You did well, Hal, especially considering that this was your first year in your new house.

It is indeed and elegant blossom!

DITTY IN RED

Just a pinch of scarlet
To liven up the place;
Just a hint of ruby
Brushed upon your face;
Just a bit of cherry
Dancing round your toes;
Just some sanguine colors—
That’s the way it goes!

@Jack - I hope next year will be better. My MiL nd I planted alot ofnew stuff that I hope will survive the winter. I also planted around 30 tulips, but it seems many were eaten by a skunk or squirrels. :(

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
