Once you pass under this fancy structure, you're inside the actual Necropolis Cemetery. Lots of famous Torontonians are buried there like Joseph Bloore. It's a nice place for an afternoon stroll. I've always loved cemeteries and this one was no exception.
I hope you're still enjoying the blog on auto pilot. I'll be back soon and with new shots of Berlin!

elle est tres mignonne, une belle architecture
I can imagine a horse pulling a buggy under there! Very fancy and pretty :D
At first I thought it would be a perfect backdrop for wedding photos. After reading you description, I changed my mind!
Very pretty entrance
I had the same first impression as Kate. It may be very pretty, but probably not the place for a wedding or even wedding photos. Unless, of course, the couple was just dying to get married!
Wonderful details in this structure! :)

I enjoy stopping at old cemeteries, but most are gloomy. This place has an ethereal quility.
The cemetery has great architecture, Halcyon. "Torontonians!". I guess there had to be a name for your townspeople, but I didn't know what it is.
Wow that's some entrance for a cemetery.
Where is this in Toronto????
It's a fancy structure indeed. Love it!
@Anonymous - (not that I think you're coming back to look at this) this is the entrance to the Necropolis Cemetery which is just across from the Riverdale Farm in Cabbagetown.

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
