The scene is reminiscent of some of the store window displays the window dressers used to do for me at the Bata stores I managed.

This picture is so beautiful and it's so interesting to see the evolution of fashion and it comes back in one or two decades. :)

I can't believe I've been alive for over half of the years I see posted on the signs. Your posting today reminded me that "white bucks" were my favourite shoes when I was a teenager. They made me so cool.
I couldn't drag my husband to visit when we went there a couple of years ago. Oh well.

Confession: I don't like modern shoes, let along those from over the ages. That being said, this is a fun photo. I like the perspective -- great vantage point to take in all those cool colorful signs.

@Paul - I have never seen a Bata store here in Canada. Plenty in France though. Have they gone under?
Great shot! This reminds me, I need new spring shoes.....
I'm wondering if some styles from the early years have come back in style in later years. Like lapels on men's suit/sport coats.

SIGNS
My daughter has a thing for shoes, which seems to have passed me by my entire life. At the moment, my grand-daughter is besotted with a pair of golden yellow gumboots bearing a black tractor. She does not sleep with them ... yet.
I wanted a closer look at some of those individual years. Can't remember what I was wearing on my feet in the 1950s ;>
Halcyon, I think they've pulled out of Canada, don't know why. The local store closed a few years ago. When I worked for them they were the biggest chain in Canada, with almost 150 stores. Actually, I shouldn't say pulled out - they still have a store in Toronto, but not under the Bata name, and it sells athletic shoes only. Their international head office was a lovely building on a small hill in Don Mills if I remember correctly, but I think it was razed. Now they're HQ is in Switzerland, must be a tax thing.
Shoe styles from my teen years have come back around, I still have a thing for mary janes and t-straps.
It is a colorful display. But, a shoe museum?

Love the shoe history
I have 4 pair of shoes, white, blue, green, red all running shoes. No need for anything else.
The curator at this museum had a superb idea when he decided to do a display of shoes through the years. We all love shoes, and if you all are like moi, you have far more than you need. I love the lighting and the way portions of the signs are turned in another direction. genie
