We did take the boat tour in Peterborough. It took us through two locks which are part of the Trent Severn Waterway that links Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay. The first lock was your typical kind where the boats come in and they fill the basin with water. The second was the lift lock. I'll show you more of it tomorrow, it's quite something!
I'm linking this post up to Sunday Bridges. Click on the link to see more bridges from around the world.

I like this photo and look forward to more about Lift Locks.
Imposing and massive...
I can't wait!!!!
I hate to rain on your parade. You were on the Trent Severn Waterway. It links Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay. Down towards Niagara way you will find the Welland Canal that links Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Regardless I love your photo.
@Andy - thanks for the correction. Info has been updated! :)
I like the way you got a tetch of the boat in the photo!
Look forward to the lift locks - I've never been through there in a boat.
Looks like something out of the communist era.
Waiting for more info. Look at the color of the sky. Fantastic!! MB
I agree with you...it is quite something. It is amazing to view and I cannot wait to see more as the week goes on. Your boat tour must have been a real treat. Both the color of the sky and the stone/mortar are striking. Great shot. genie
Interesting.....I've only heard of the first kind of locks. I'll have to tune in to see the rest!
Very impressive! & the weather looks amazing too.
I love visiting this liftlock to watch the boats pass through. I haven't been there this year, though.

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
