Here's a look at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. If you sat at the flagged benches I showed a few days ago, you'd have a very nice view of this memorial. It honours fallen soldiers from both WWI and WWII.
I think the soldiers deserve a closer look. The expressions on their faces are something to see. I could have spent even more time discovering this work. The tomb of the Unknown Soldier is also located here. Altogether, it's a very moving monument.

It's important to remember all of these soldiers, both the fallen and those who survived the conflicts.
It's a terrific memorial!
The detail (bottom shot) is just fantastic!
Very impressive! Thanks for the close-up! But isn't it sad we continue to have need for such things? Will war ever stop? (I just reference your comment on Ocala...how we love to fight, often about unimportant stuff while the globe warms, the seas rise, the cities are inundated...sheesh!)
There are so few survivors left that it is becoming even more important to remember.
The sculptor certainly captured the facial expressions. A great reminder of the sacrifices of war.
I'm glad you showed the detail in the second shot. Very nice!
C'est très impressionnant. Quand je pense que ceux de WWI sont tous morts maintenant, ça fait tout bizarre...
It's important to remember those soldiers in the world. And the second photo shows the details clearly.
Nice statue.
I enlarged the second picture and you are right, the sculptor did a wonderful job of those expressions -- very poignant.
Wonderful memorial Halcyon, amazing detail in the second shot, definitely worth looking closer. As Lowell said, if only that could be an end to it!
Lots of details in this monument. Great statues!
I am fixated on their faces, there seems to be so much there, what an amazing memorial.

I hate the new word verification. Since I have trouble reading those "words", I am assuming others do too.
